“Running is a Gift. Run Happy. Every day with a run is better. Every run brings you closer to your best self. And you end every run in a better place than you started.”
This is Brooks purpose statement number one.
JackRabbit Nashville shares this state of mind!
Let’s dig a little deeper into what this means IRL! Read on for everyday inspiration as well as footwear insight from Brook’s running ambassador, Courtney Schatz.
Q. Brooks aspires to reflect truth in running. In your running journey, what’s an important truth that you’ve learned?
A. A truth about myself that I’ve discovered through my running journey is that I’m happiest when I’m part of something bigger than myself… when I have a community to which I can contribute. Running has provided me with a sense of community in various ways. Throughout college, this community was found by being a part of my school’s cross country team. My coach often referred to me as the team cheerleader. In my last semester of school, I decided to sign up to be part of the Ulman Foundation’s 4k for Cancer, a 49 day run across the country with a team of twenty individuals from throughout the U.S. to raise money for young adults with cancer. Being part of 4k has provided an incredible community of support and given a sense of meaning to my runs. Now, as a Brooks Ambassador and Footwear Lead at run retailer, I’ve found a sense of community in my job and everyday life, as I work to create confidence and excitement by personally equipping all runners to achieve their dreams.
Q. Brooks is always working on improving their products. They share, “Technology is only valid when it helps you run. Customization is only worthwhile if it improves function before form.” You recently ran your first marathon. CONGRATS!!! What shoes did you wear? Did you rotate or stick with one style? What technology do you find especially beneficial?
A. I wore the orange and blue Best Fest Limited Edition ones for my marathon because they matched the colors of the race I was doing, which was the Columbus Nationwide Children’s Hospital Marathon. I also have a pair of the Revel 2s that I use for shorter, faster runs. I love the cushion that Brooks provides. The width of Brook’s shoes fits my foot very naturally. I like my shoes light and the weight of the Ghost is perfect. They are durable, comfortable, and look fantastic!
Q. Brooks also strives to connect and inspire through their narrative; my mind immediately jumps to their popular Run Happy hashtag…. what inspires you to lace up, get out the door and #RunHappy?
A. People inspire me to lace up and get outdoors. I’ve met some amazing people in the running community that have encouraged me to keep striving to be the best that I can possibly be. I’ve been blessed with a healthy body that allows me to run and so I’m going to take advantage of that. There’s something about running that just makes you feel alive. Every run is different and every time you run, you are changed in some way. I think that’s beautiful.
Q. Lastly, a hard-hitting question: if you could only listen to one song on repeat during your next 5K, what would it be?
A. Arcade by Generation Lost. It’s pretty repetitive, but I think a 5k wouldn’t be too bad, as long as it was only one hahaha.
